Patterns weave across the world,
All things come in threes or fours;
Four seasons, three charges,
And to power, four doors.

Witchcraft uses nature's way,
Sorcerers use their Wills well.
Magicians chain Sprits,
Wizards use wand and spell.

Following this pattern,
Hogwarts' in four Houses split.
In each house a student
Will find a perfect fit.

Slytherin is Winter,
The harsh wind of cunning thought.
Hufflepuff is Autumn;
Trueness that can't be bought.

Gryffindor is Summertime,
Strong of courage, hot of blood.
Ravenclaw is Spring's flower;
Wisdom in knowledge's flood.

Place me on your little head,
And I'll see before too long,
To which House and season
You truthfully belong.
