Lestatian Writing Exercise #21

I was made a thousand years ago,
By four wizards of vast renown.
They argued over what was to be,
Their faces marred by frown.
Godric Gryffindor, proud of heart,
Helga Hufflepuff, hard worker.
Rowena Ravenclaw with stouted brain,
Salazar Slytherin: lurker.
These founders fashioned Hogwarts school,
Their time was long and merried.
But who was to form the different houses,
When they were dead and buried?
Although together all four set apart,
Their students from the crowd.
For each of those founders were aware,
Different merits made them proud.
Gryffindor, the warrior, loved those
Who raised sword high.
And Hufflepuff valued workers,
Who did more than just get by.
Ravenclaw, the sharpest tool,
Picked brilliants from the shower.
And Slytherin, the crafty one,
Prized those that needed power.
And though this system worked so well,
All knew it was not eternal.
Unless somebody devised a way,
To make the scheme infernal.
These four founders joined their heads,
And sweated long for toil.
Eventually their efforts bore fruit,
And I came out the boil.
For it is I who holds the founders brains,
The key to your own fate.
Just put me up upon your head,
You needn't have to wait.
For I'll answer the undying question,
Of where you all belong.
I've been doing this for many a year,
I'll disconnect the throng,
So come up now, I'll do you all,
I assure you it won't take long.
For I'm the Hogwart's Sorting Hat,
And I've never yet been wrong!
